Meet Our Alpaca Family

.png?width=496&name=Website%20Images%20%20-%20The%20Lodge%20Bellingen%20(1).png)
Our alpaca family has been a cherished part of The Lodge Bellingen since 2018 and has become a favourite for many guests. At the heart of the family is Jimmy Hendrix, our handsome black alpaca, who is around 16 years old and proudly holds the role of grandfather of the group. Alongside Jimmy is Betty, our brown mum, who welcomed our newest baby on Sunday 31 May 2026. The family also includes Lily, our grey alpaca, her young son Macca, who was born in November 2023 and Sonny, the brown father of both Macca and the newest baby.
Spending time near the alpaca family is a lovely part of the Lodge experience, and guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy interacting and feeding them. To help keep both our guests and our alpacas safe and comfortable, we kindly ask that no one enters the alpaca yard. If you would like to visit them, our reception team will be happy to point you in the right direction, and feed buckets are available from reception. If you are new to hand-feeding alpacas, please ask one of our team members for guidance before feeding.
Our alpacas are gentle and curious animals, and we ask all guests to move calmly around them and treat them with care. Children are very welcome to enjoy the experience, however they must be supervised by an adult at all times. For the safety and comfort of our alpacas, guests staying in our pet-friendly rooms are kindly asked not to bring their pets anywhere near the alpaca yard.
